Overview
Windows 365 Business gives each person a full Windows desktop in the Microsoft cloud. It behaves like a normal managed PC — same Entra ID sign-in, same apps — but there's no physical machine to buy, image or replace. It is the lighter of the two Windows 365 plans: bought per user, capped at 300 seats, and set up without any Azure or Intune prerequisites.
When it fits
The simplest option when you need consistent desktops for a fixed set of people in a smaller organisation: new starters, contractors, shift workers, or anyone on an under-powered device. If you already run everything through Intune and need network integration or no seat cap, use Windows 365 Enterprise.
How it differs from Enterprise
- Seat limit — up to 300 Cloud PCs. Enterprise has no cap.
- Setup — managed from the built-in Windows 365 console; Intune is optional. Enterprise is managed entirely through Intune, like your physical fleet.
- Networking — Cloud PCs use Microsoft-hosted networking. Enterprise can add an Azure Network Connection to reach your own network and on-premises resources.
- Images — the Microsoft gallery image plus your apps. Enterprise also allows custom images.
- Price — Windows Hybrid Benefit discounts Business when the user already holds Windows Pro.
